antioxidant supplements

Antioxidant supplements, How the danger?

In order to maintain stamina and to stay healthy, antioxidants in the form of supplements such as vitamins C and E may be an option. Antioxidants are believed to prevent damage to body tissues or oxidative stress by eliminating free radicals that cause.

But, researchers from Germany said another. As quoted by the BBC, the researchers even believe that free radicals are formed can have an impact / effect is good for the body, and even hold diabetes thus eliminating vitamin with antioxidants that can affect bad.

A lead researcher Dr. Michael Bristow of the University of Jena said that free radicals might be able to give a positive effect on the body. You do this by increasing sensitivity to insulin, a condition that is lost in type-2 diabetes. It's just that unfortunately; this effect is then inhibited by the antioxidant vitamin itself.

In the study they did found that in people who take vitamin C and E did not change the level of free radicals in their bodies. While that is not menace antioxidant levels indicate the presence of free radical oxidative stress. After four weeks of intensive exercise, insulin sensitivity in the group of men without antioxidant supplements had improved. Instead of taking supplements his condition deteriorated even metabolically.

Responding to these findings, Dr Sarah Alder, a lecturer at the School of Sport And Exercise Sciences at the University Of Birmingham, England, gave his comments. From the research that does not mean that supplements containing antioxidants are not good for the body. "It's just better if we consider whether the supplements we consume really useful or not." Vitamins are best is from natural sources. With a healthy and balanced diet is enough to keep your body in shape without having to take supplements.

  1. I like the idea of antioxidant supplements. Just be sure to still include food rich in antioxidants in your diet.
